2. Cooking Instructions

Step 1:

Whisk together water, yogurt, and oil until well mixed.

Step 2:

In a bowl take TDC Mix. Pour the water liquid and gently mix to get a smooth runny batter.

Step 3:

On a low medium heat, lightly grease the pan and pour the batter and spread it in circles till thin and wide. You may apply some oil or butter on the top and cook till the dosas become golden brown. Traditionally dosas don't need a flip and cook other side, but if you prefer you can flip and cook the other side.

3. Serving Suggestions

We like our dosas with just butter or yogurt on a busy day. However, it makes for a wholesome meal when accompanied by sautéed veggies or potato masala and Sambar or Dal or any curry of your choice. Having it with a chutney of your choice is also super easy and provides for essential micronutrients. Here is a photo gallery for serving suggestions.

4. Substitutions and Additions
  • Dairy substitute: replace yogurt with a plant based yogurt, or lemon juice or vinegar.

Can I make the dosa with eggs?

Q

May be. We have not tried them yet. If you try them, do share your experience with us.

A

Why is the batter not spreading properly? Or why is the dosa breaking off as I try to spread the batter?

Q

Most likely the griddle is too hot or there is excess oil if using a nonstick pan. So try lowering the heat and removing any excess oil from the pan.

A

Which type of pan is best suited for making dosas?

Q

Cast iron pans are best to make dosas, but they need seasoning. You can use ceramic or nonstick pans but make sure you don't put excess oil.
